Sentosa is Singapore's island playground, home to Universal Studios Singapore, beaches, cable cars and evening shows. Here's how to plan it so you spend your day on rides and beaches, not in queues.
How to get to Sentosa
| Option | From | Approx. cost | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sentosa Express (monorail) | VivoCity, level 3 (HarbourFront MRT) | S$4 (entry, paid once on the way in) | Most people, fastest |
| Sentosa Boardwalk (walk) | VivoCity | Free | Budget travellers, about 15 minutes |
| Cable car | Mount Faber or HarbourFront | ≈ S$35+ return | The views |
| Grab / taxi | Anywhere | Fare + small entry fee | Families with kids and bags |
Universal Studios Singapore: tickets
- One-day adult ticket: about S$85–90; children are a little cheaper. Prices can be higher on peak dates.
- Express Pass (optional) skips the regular queue once per ride and is worth it on weekends and school holidays.
- Buy online in advance: from the official site or authorised resellers, which often cost less than the gate price.
Best rides and shows
The park is laid out in themed zones in a loop. These are the highlights most visitors rate:
Transformers: The Ride Sci-Fi City
A 3D motion ride through a battle between Autobots and Decepticons. One of the best in the park, so go early.
Battlestar Galactica: HUMAN vs CYLON Sci-Fi City
Twin racing roller coasters, one seated and one suspended. For thrill-seekers only.
Revenge of the Mummy Ancient Egypt
An indoor coaster in the dark with surprises. Short but intense, and a favourite with teenagers.
Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure The Lost World
A river raft ride. You will get wet, so buy or carry a poncho and keep your phone in a pouch.
Minion Land and the family rides Kids and families
The Minion-themed zone and gentler rides like the carousel and Far Far Away attractions are good for younger kids. Check the show schedule at the entrance for the parade and live shows.
A smart plan for your Universal Studios day
- Reach the gates 20–30 minutes before opening.
- Head straight for the most popular rides (Transformers, Mummy, the coasters) while queues are short.
- Do the water ride after lunch, when getting wet feels good.
- Catch a show in the hot afternoon; it's indoors and air-conditioned.
- Leave around 6 pm for dinner and the Wings of Time show on Sentosa.
Food and vegetarian options
- Inside the park, food is mostly fast food: pizza, burgers, noodles and snacks, with some vegetarian choices. Expect to pay S$15–25 per person for a meal.
- Outside food generally isn't allowed inside, except baby food and special dietary needs. Check the current rules.
- For a proper Indian meal, eat before you go or come back to the city. See Indian restaurants in Singapore.
- Carry a refillable water bottle; there are refill points.
The rest of Sentosa
Beaches: Siloso, Palawan and Tanjong Free
Siloso is lively, Palawan is family-friendly (its suspension bridge leads to a small islet with lookout towers) and Tanjong is the quietest. Free beach trams run between them.
Skyline Luge Paid
Gravity-powered carts down a winding track, fun for all ages. Combine it with the Skyride chairlift back up.
Wings of Time Paid · evenings
A night show on Siloso Beach with water jets, lasers, fire and fireworks. Book your slot in advance.
Fort Siloso Free
Singapore's preserved coastal fort, with WWII tunnels and the Fort Siloso Skywalk for views. A quieter, history-focused stop.
Cable car, aquarium and more Paid
The cable car between Mount Faber and Sentosa, the large aquarium at Resorts World Sentosa, Madame Tussauds and the adventure parks round out the island. Pick one or two; combo tickets save money.

Tips
- Go on a weekday and avoid Indian and Singapore school holidays for shorter queues.
- Sun and rain both happen on the same day: carry sunscreen, a cap and a small umbrella or poncho.
- Lockers: some rides require you to store bags; keep a small pouch for your phone and cards.
- Travelling with grandparents or toddlers? The beaches, Wings of Time and the cable car are easier than a full theme-park day.
