How we calculate it
The estimate adds up typical prices for each part of the trip, using the same figures as our Singapore trip cost from India guide:
- Flights: a typical return economy fare per person: about ₹23,000 booked 6–8 weeks ahead off-season, ₹37,500 in peak season and ₹50,000 last minute.
- Stay: a hostel bed (about S$45 a night per person) on a budget, a 3–4★ room (about S$220) or a 4–5★ room (about S$450) shared by two.
- Food: about S$30, S$50 or S$90 per person a day, from mostly hawker centres to mostly restaurants.
- Getting around: about S$10–15 a day by MRT, or S$30 if you mostly use Grab.
- Extras: SIM or eSIM, small shopping and a buffer: ₹4,000, ₹8,000 or ₹15,000 per person.
